lougher

myself and spahill had a foray down to lougher on thursday, only had a couple of hours to spare, armed with rag from dragon baits we set up at our location, baits in the water, after 10mins little rattle on my rod nice plump flounder in the bag,a local angler informed us your baits no good on this river, unfortunately thats all we could get,we contiued to fish on a falling tide thinking to ourselves not much chance of another fish, twitch twitch went my rod tip, another plump flounder came to the net,10mins to go to pack up,last cast loaded rag onto the hook and cast in ,i looked at spahill look at the rod tip i said ,cant see nothing he replied, just the faintest of movement i said, the rod pulled over and another good flounder in the bag.3 good fish in 3hr sesh with crap bait as i was informed, not bad eh.

Re: lougher

Hopefully I'll catch some on the next trip Dave.
Here's the first

and here's lunch.

Good Luck if you hit Llanstephan John.
May be busy with left over bait users if Loughor comp fishes badly today.

i dunno to be honest

i wouldn't want to eat them from the estuaries...may be a bit muddy

i'd have no qualms eating them off the storm beaches.

fallguy..what did they taste like??

Re: lougher

good eating,no different to beach caught, suppose it depends if thier resident in the estuary rather than running in fresh with every tide.

Everything tastes better in Wales, though I haven't tried the Real Ale here.

I was of similar thoughts till I tried one... very nice.
From where we caught them Langenith is 7 miles, Pendine 5 miles as the fish swims. Shouldn't think it would take long for a fish to do that distance. The mud banks of the north gower go quite a lot closer.
The water is more like chocolate syrup up towards Newport , but everyone likes the cod that come out.

Yet to catch a decent one off a storm beach to compare them... will let you know when i do.
