Jackstones

Windy Monday with 4 hours to low means poor fishing, so I took the fork & headed to Swansea to get some lug. After a 30 minute wait to let rush hour turn into sensible time I joined the mile long queue to get through the roadworks & chilled in the air conditioning whilst listening to Bay Radio.
Arriving at the digging parking there were two other cars & 5 diggers waiting to get some fresh bait.
Boy or should i say boyo was it hard work, but a few hours of turning sand produced enough bait for the next few days.

Tuesday arrives & the wind is even stronger so I hit some cover behind jackstones with the tide still heading for cornwall.
First put in and there is some interest, a few taps later & a small pouting heads in, foul hooked.
Next chuck and after a bit of a wait a 5 bearded rockling joins me on the rocks. Slippery beggar jumps out of me hand flops on a couple of rocks & dissapears from sight....... but not in the water.
International rescue are called, but before the thunderbirds can arrive I have shifted a blocking rock & an old empty cider bottle and am upended reaching down to tickle the rockling into an extraction position. A few moments later the rescue has been completed, she has been despatched back into the briney & I am hoping my floaty is still waterproof after liaising with barnacles a bit to closely. That was one lucky 5 b-r, if it wasn't for the bright orange colouring (probably from a Swansea tanning shop) she might not have been rescued, especialy as IR didn't show up .

Anyway the tide was still running out so I shuffled further towards the end & caught another pouting fairly this time.
With the surf starting to appear in front of me it weas last knockings for the fishing, but perhaps the best. A reasonable Bass, slightly undersize, but they all go back, so I tortured him for the photo by putting him (or her) in the baity bucket/tackle bag.

Got to love these fish on light tackle.... river gear tomorrow instead of carp for even more fun.

Re: Jackstones

Wednesday - it was quieter, fished deeper earlier & fish only started coming when water was nearly gone... feeding by the surf (what there was) line. Had 5 small pouting and a snotty on last knockings.

Thursday - met Fallguy at 08:30 and caught lots of crabs from Jackstones. Lots of rubber suited sea lions enjoying the steady, if not impressive, surf on the outside. At least they were having fun.
Moved into the river and achieved my first PIN whiting of the winter. FG tried further down & had a good battle with a doggie near low water on an 8 ft spinning rod, it was such a good battle I pegged it 100yds down the sandbank to see the large Bass being landed, I think FG was slightly the more dissapointed but only because I remebered half way down that I had left the camera in my bag & didn't bother going back for it.
Returned to my rods to pack up & found a snotty eel was attached.
Another blank free week.
Appologies for puctuation... breathe in, hold, breathe out........

breathe normally you fool!!!!
