Water running away all week Have spent 3 mornings on the beach this week all on the ebb of some of the largest tides this year. Tuesday saw the surf alive with fish, shooting back from 2 inches depth to thigh deep then playing again in the next waves. Traveling light with thigh waders and floaty coat, forceps clipped to whistle pocket, 2 rigs in LH pocket and worm in a beaker on the RHS. Couldn't tempt any of the mullet but managed 4 flatties one of which was a rreasonable side 7 had the clutch going briefly. Wed: same gear as tuesday but a lighter coat as warmer. Forceps fell off as just clipped to fabric, so stopped fishing early as may of had problems with a deep hooked fish. Returned for the evening high to fish with Fall guy, had a small flattie and tiny snotty. Looked nice but few fish. Thu: new forceps in a light coolbag with loads of left over, nearly dead rag, 12 ft feeder rod, No coat, got to love the weather. Large surf reminded me of Hawaii, then I remebered I hadn't been there, but it was big and had tubes for surfing whippets. Big pull round on the rod heavy then light, snoods came back tangled. As the water dropped back to the flatter sand the mullet appeared again and the surf diminished to a happier wading level. Eventually got a take & after a brief clutch screaming fight, including a jump clear of the water landed a GG mullet, guessing around 2 lb, but without camera or scales hard to tell. One problem with travelling so light. Fished on for another 1.5 hours with only a small flattie to show for effort. GG made my week though. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>

Re: Water running away all week Nice 3 days Paul ! I assume the camera was far too much excess weight to carry around ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting

Re: Water running away all week Once I get in the water I don't leave it, unhooking fish with rod stuck in waders. Taking the camera out of a bag/pocket then out of it's case & trying to get a shot of a slippery fish wouldn't be practical. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>
