Titchy Fish Fest @the Foreshore

Blustery SW winds again ,so no ray hunting this weekend ,John and i had a chat and we decided to fish the foreshore at Cardiff, to hide out of the wind ,with a chance of an early Cod.

Met up at 6.30 and trekked around to a spot on the sea wall ,was quite pleasant when we got there ,that changed with heavy blustery showers all morning ,going from warm and dry to pelting down in seconds .

While we were there saw a Salmon around double figures jump around 20 yards out ,on its way to the rivers i presume , wouldn`t have seen that in the house watching car crash Tv.

We both fished one big bait and one scratching bait on 2 rods .Fishing was slow to say the least ,not a nibble on the big baits , a few on the scrarching rods eventually , i was first in with a 3" whiting ,followed by another , John snagged the specimen of the day in the shape of a big plastic bag full of water .

We were chating about not having caught or seen a Pouting off the shore locally for years ,they used to be common around this area , i jokingly said i was desperate for one for the species hunt and a poor cod , but thought i might be hoping a bit . next 2 casts produced a Poor Cod and Pouting , talk about tempting fate . No more fish till just before we left when i managed a snotty eel.

Weather alternated between sunshine and heavy rain all morning ...

I sneaked the first micro whiting of the day ,John wasn`t far behind with one of his own
...

John Landed "the biggest item " of the day a cracking bag full of water ,snotty eel for me ..

2 suprises on the day a decent sized Poor Cod and a rare Pouting

It was a tiny bit wet at times thro the morning ....
