Smile Carmathen holiday Village Kidwelly

Firstly let me say no fish were harmed in the making of this thread,

but is written for info for others heading there

Just had a great week away in Wales at the above venue

few issues with the van etc but thats a by the by,

wherever you are its only 2 mins walk to the beach which is made of broken ground and sand

and as you can see the tide goes out pigging miles

I took worm/sandeel and some frozen peeler but
there isnt much point in bringing bait, but def bring a fork( i didnt but guy in next van lent me one 1/2 way through week, half hour later loads of worm), there are worm everywhere and peelers under all those rocks, which are barnicle covered

tide comes in so so fast ( walking pace) and also can run in behind!! so beware over the flat sand within 15 mins was up to rods here

most evenings i had place to myself

or even if others there theres loads of room

the place is known for flatties ( flounder mainly) and bass, and talking to guys on sat eve they had had both, so on sunday i started my campaign

i then fished 4 evenings on incomeing tides ( tides were absolutely huge this week) mostly on end beach towards ferryside, its easy fishing and i lost no gear and even on big tide 4oz held here, on the river side 5 oz struggled in flow.
And despite best efforts in week I hate to say only had 1 bite( on the sandeel) , which i skillfully missed. rigs were 2 hook size 2 flapper with bling and worm for a flattie and 2 hook 2/0 with sandeel/lug/crab for a bass

i did see flounder caught and a nice 5lb bass at about 1 1/2 hrs to high, by guys fishing furher out with waders on ( which i didnt have)
understand it can fish over the low, but its a bit of a trek

despite the lack of fish was a stunning place , managed both fishing and family time ( as managed bar after but with either lager (bleugghh) or for bitter john smiths smooth there was more chance of getting waterlogged then drunk and £3.10 for it as well )

but with sunsets like this and peace and quiet , it was "tidy"
