| Holiday spinning in the Gower Spent last week in Nicholaston, South Gower and enjoyed the time exploring the beautiful beaches of Oxwich, Three Cliffs and Mewslade. Took some light spinning gear with me (a cheap 8ft spinning rod and a selection of wedges and mepps spinners as it's a fair old walk down to those beaches what with the additional body boards, wetsuits, and general beach paraphernalia). Sadly I blanked on all occasions although I did, to my utter amazement, manage to hook into what I suspected was a small bass on a very light mepps spinner with a treble only for it muscle itself free within inches of my trembling hands. On the last day at Mewslade I could actually see bass of around 12" - 16" inches in length jumping out of the water in front of me as I watched the kids surfing. Shame they werent interested in my shiny metal. Apologies to those I suggested we meet up but it never quite worked out what with the family in tow etc. Hopefully next time. Thank you Wales for your beautiful country and friendly people. Cant wait to go again. __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad. |
