Still slow around PT

Monday
The Fallguy & I met just after 10 by the beach & had a dabble for a couple of hours at low water with the ultra light gear.
Little schoolie on maddie for D & I had a miniture flounder on rag.

We headed off to the shortie to see if things were any livelier.
Plenty of peeps there but not much being caught. We dropped down on the inside. I fished a sliding float & D hit the bottom. Slow it was, I captured a couple of wrasse, D only had one knock.

Moved to the outside & it was still slow. I kept with the float, varying depth between 6 and 20ft and had another 4 wrasse & a sand smelt inbetween a bit of unsucessful plugging.

D plugged on with the bottom & scarlet flying condoms (sounds a bit rude) and managed more nothing.

Not a brilliant day, but more caught than on our other adventures.

Tuesday
hit the beach 2 down 2 up for little reward.
2 small flounder & found a large hole in my chest waders.
Wet, but the forecast thunderstorm didn't arive

Wednesday
Monknash for a turbot.
Every time I go for Rays i catch Turbot, so this time I'm going to target Turbot.... a nice 3lber I think. That should guarantee a blank.

Re: Still slow around PT

Wednesday. took the turn off for Southerndown at a whim & fished Ogmore.
6 hours - not a nibble. Chatted to another angler who was also biteless. Hope you had better luck nearer the river.
A couple of pictures of Ogmore

Off to plug the Neath river for a few hours today. Summer at last, shame it's raining again tomorrow.

Did it

Target achieved.
After many fruitless attempts at getting Bass (or any other fish) on a plug, I have eventually done it.

It's only a 45 minute walk & I have been far to lazy of late.
I started off nearer Ferry bend, then for the last hour of the ebb headed out to the mouth of the Neath. It's still a long walk from the end of the dunes to the mouth so I stopped for a photo of the emergency tower, which has been climbed by those cut off by the tide.

As I carried on walking I notice some footprints going my way, "Man Friday" was ahead but too small to see in the distance. Eventually I could pick out my fellow angler and rather than disturb him & his fishies stopped about 100 yds short of his position.
Roughly here on google maps 51.603212,-3.869076 (the tide was out further)
Out went the plug and on the 3rd or fourth cast I had a take almost under my feet. Clutch screamed as it took line & a fun battle ensued resulting in this chappette.

Just about in size, but after a quick visit to the weigh bag for 35oz was retured.
Another couple of chucks and another take slightly further downstream.

A tiny bit smaller so didn't bother with the weigh & went back to get bigger.

After 2 fish I changed plugs & went through about 5 varieties but only had a follow on a big rattly one. Nearly fell in as the fish shot past my feet as I was extracting the plug from the water.

Back to the rapalla with no more success. Saw plenty of fish messing about on the inside but couldn't tempt anybody.

With the tide on the flood it was the long walk back to pick K up.

Great way to spend a lunchtime
