Last day of Summer

Monday saw the last of the good weather, so I took advantage and fished the tide down for longer than was neccesary.
The Short arm was busy with mackeralers stocking up, but I managed to slot in on the rocks. Armed with my favourite new toy (ugly stick spinning rod), a selection of wedges/spoons/plugs and a carp rod for some light bottom work.

As usual you don't catch as many with a spinner, but it is a lot more fun. After catching 2 I had enough bait for today & put them in the coolbag with the emegency frozen mack pack.
Chucked out a 1up 1 down & waited for bites in the sunshine. It was slow but eventually I had a knock & caught a wrasse

A little later as the tide receeded and the other anglers departed I had a third mack on the bottom hook baited with worm (couldn't get a touch on the fresh mack).
A Glorious day in the sun.

Tuesday saw me trade in the smelly old blue fishing wagon and get a slightly newer, less smelly, more fuel efficient, green diesel.

Wednesday, thank god for the Tour de France, emptied my rain measuring bucket of 3 inches in a day & a half. Remebered my frozen mack pack was still in fishing bag, poopped it in the freezer.

Thursday, have to fish as K had a 4 hour shift....
removed smelly, stinky mack & a good pack from the freezer & set off for shorty expecting to get soaked in my leaky floaty.
Sun shone for all 3 hours, wind blew for all 3 hours, but I was sheltered by a wall and manged to get a float & a bottom rig in the mucky brown water, coloured by all the rain up my valley.
only 1 bite and that was on the stinky mack attached to a 3/0 circle on the float.
What fish is silly enough to eat this?????
A forum record silver eel of 6.5oz, get your scales out & start weighing your fish folks, this is a tiddler!

As we are not allowed to catch these he went back happily, though possibly with indigestion.
More points for the hunt

Friday - today - more liquid sunshine.

Pingu. What coulor is your Jonah car?
Note I caught a green fish first with my green car.
If yours is Sheilas wheels pink then you may be in trouble
