| Is it a bird ,is it a plane .......  NO its a Velvet Swimming crab.....John and i decided to have a few hours at Newton this evening , to use up the weekends crab ,and carry on the early smoothound hunt . Pretty windy but coming from the west over the top of us ,so fishing was pretty comfy .Walking around the weed and crevises were full of shore and small edible crabs so prospects looked good. We didn`t get any hounds ,but did see 1 reasonable one,and a pup caught further over on the point, so encouraging that they are filtering inshore .I blanked and John snared a bad attitude Velvet swimmer thro the back leg. Newton is pretty smooth as S.Wales rock marks go, and has Angry crabs ......     __________________ Mike.. At least you were only using up leftovers  I will be hunting rays on Aberavon this weekend - a month earlier than last year.
