Monknash.....Ray hunting in a sand storm !!

Big ENE winds ,make fishing difficult to say the least ,unless you drive down the coast a bit ,had intended to fish Aberthaw ,as quite a few early Smoothounds had been reported over the last few days , the sea was like a washing machine ,so that was out of the question,drove a further10 miles of so to Monknash .

Nash point and Monknash fairly sheltered in a big easterly ,took the long walk down ,and the beach looked glorious ,flat calm seas and sunshine , the wind picked up during the day and shifted round slightly with interesting results !!. My seatbox was blown over and off down the beach ,the rods even in a 7ft tripod were toppled several times ,and i regretted wearing shorts as my legs got sandblasted

A lonesome "Mumbles Marlin" caught saved the blank ,a couple of hours into the flood ,tonnes of green weed started acumulating on the lines ,that was the straw that broke the camels back ,packed up and went home .......

On a sad note ,found several dead dogfish on the beach and a Small eyed ray of around 4 lb dead in the surf ,some anglers really need to take more care handling and returning fish , sights like that just play into the anti angling faturnity`s hands .

Sounds like you had a right work up. Were there a couple of zzippys in the rest when it was blown over!!? Its the one condition I cant stand, give me rain, snow, sleet, sunshine any thing but wind!

Oh yes it all hit the beach ,several times, nice new Penn mag 2`s full of sand also

Unlucky Mike - winds are forecast to be strong all week. Better Monknash than a rooftop eh???

I quite fancy a Zziplex but not sure if I would take it fishing!
I have nearly knocked an eye off of one of my new salt mx's, I put a massive crack in the high build and bent the eye. I straightened the eye and was thinking of alraldite to fix the crack. Do you know if alraldite drys clear?

Zziplex are excellent fishing rods ,provided you get one thats not too stiff for your casting style and where you fish ,its a bit of a bummer when a £400 rod hits the floor ,but thats fishing,even worse when they both bite the dust.

Araldite dries a cloudy yellowy brown colour , i`m pretty sure you can get small bottles of high build ,or even better pop it to your local rod man and get it sorted ,he wont charge you that much...
