Light tackle on the shorty & fish identification please

Took one of my old river rods down to the short arm to play with the small stuff down the side amongst the rocks.
10lb line tied into a loop knot, snipped then 6lb hooklength & rotten bottom attached to the 2 ends. A half ounce bomb for weight which suprisingly lasted all session and hooks which snagged more often varied from size 6 to 10. Bait was bits of ragworm. Plenty of different species.

First up was a rock goby,


Then a codling of 11 inches


A pollack

A ballan wrasse, with a blue diddler

A wrasse that looked different colourwise - any idea of variety??

A cracking bite from a small pout that nearly bent the rod in half.

Then a mystery fish that i need identified please.
Almost translucent and very streamlined. Have some other pictures if peeps are struggling.

I'm thinking it may be a baby mullet - seems to have the right shape...

I think you will find that is a Sand Smelt.

The Wrasse you have as a Ballen is a Corkwing(note the spot in the middle of the tail and a Blue A*se) the other Wrasse is hard to ID without a full picture because I go on tail/fin markings for a positive ID

Yep - a good fun session.... so good I'm doing a longer one tomorrow & taking a conger rod for a sleeper.
