| Blue shark on Aberavon Took K down for an dusk/dark session on Aberavon. Arrived around 19:30 and already a few rods in the water with a couple more in the car park. Tootled off slightly left of normal and put out a few baits. I was using a 1 up 1 down flapper whilst K had the 2 up version. Bait for the night was chunks of mack loaded onto size 1s. As soon as the first baits were in the water the first fish was sighted.... A large Blue shark moving from the Neath river towards Jackstones. It was captured by an angler before it got to us, but what a start, there was a brief battle with the surf as he tried to keep his feet dry and was finaly victorious. A picture just before capture. Excitement over and the sun slowly set over Swansea, tip lights on and we waited for the kennel doors to open. Soon after dark and a few shuffles up the beach K had a knock as she put her rod back on the rest. The first mumbles marlin of the night came to hand. Soon after another bite and the expected marlin turned out to be flatter and a flounder came in. Eventually it was my turn and a good tug on the line was answered by weight then no weight as the grip legs dragged in. Wasn't sure what I had on.... but I should have known.... a turbot. ![]() We fished on till 23:30 (camera is an hour slow) and both managed another marlin. Results K 3 fish, P 2 fish. Nearly forgot... that shark for disbelievers. ![]() __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |
