March cometh, fish goeth

Celebrated St Davids day in style on Mumbly pier.
An 8 hour pass meant I was there at 09:00 for opening.
Positioned myself as directed by pier keeper & launched bait at the lighthouse as this was the current hotspot.
Nibbles from crabs stripping baits in record time, worm, mackeral, sandeel, squid. Couldn't buy a bite on my mini species scratcher between the pylons.

Another guy turned up & he regailed me with stories of the days before & how well it was fishing where I was. Another guy arrived & fished off the end.
It was very slow.
More lads arrived & fished off towards the lifeboat & started catching straight away, still blank for me.
Then some divine intervention, after a long wait I caught a weight.

then a fish, dabtastic.

the guy nearest me packed up so out of boredom I hurled one more out to sea & found deeper water & better bites.
Another fish, first pout of the year

Then it was time to pick up K.
Long day in blustery cold NE wind for little reward.

Wednesday saw me visit the short arm again, ducked out of the little breeze & fished the bottom of the tide on the rocks.
BLANKETY BLANK
Still it was a lovely day & I fished it really hard for 3 hours

Some might say too hard.
More of the same tomorrow methinks.

Re: March cometh, fish goeth

well done on the dabs and pout paul...might drown a sandeel or 2 tonight on the deeps...it isn't supposed to be fishing but just fancy getting out for a couple of hours of the ebb

Re: March cometh, fish goeth

Unluck on the blank, still better than daytime TV! Nice effort at Mumbles, pier is a bit rough now though.... still a good spot for easy fishing!
