| Crab`s and Cod ,Penarth 12 Feb ........... Fished the Ranny at Penarth today ,small neap tide ,so no racing up and down the beach after the water . Was hoping to get into the better sized codling ,that were "rumorured" to be inshore.Cracking day ,sunshine mixed in with clouds whizzing by on the fresh westerly wind ,flat calm sea conditions . Fished 2 rods as usual ,one big pennel and the other scratching rigs.Bait fresh rag,fished 2hrs either side of high water . Hooks were coming back stripped clean after 15 mins in the sea ,must be the water warming and encouraging a bit more life into the resident crab population. Managed to land some of the elusive better sized codling ,and a benchmark "fishfinger" on the last cast . Walking down the cliff path ,a glorious sight ,flat calm seas ,the beach is pretty clean after recent storms too....   Cracking fresh bait from Keens ,well worth the 15 mile drive,presented on 3/0 pennels   Better size codling turned up ,along with the usual "fishfinger" size ones   __________________ Mike..
