| ON THE COD ....Team Drunken Dragons @ "The Ranny" Big tump of bait in the fridge ,John and i mulled over where to fish ,go west ,risk blanking and try for a bigger cod or Penarth in search of a reasonable fish in the shoals of fishfingers.We decided on Penarth . I got down to the beach for 10.45 ish just after low water ,to get set up before the local club anglers arrived for their sunday comp,John was comin down a bit later,and bringing his new mate "Mr Hangover". So its was tripods along the beach (holiday beach towel style ) to secure a nice spot !!!!! Looking down the beach to low water ,and the ground you end up fishing into at high water   I chucked a bait out ,and got set up ,no bites for around the first hour ,John arrived ,and set up ,as he was getting sorted ,first bite for me resulted in a " Cod fishfinger" . First "codling" of the day , we let him have a swim in a rock pool before going back !!   In the next hour or so i managed 6 codling ,with John looking on and muttering something about golf clubs under his breath (standing joke between us ,if you blank ...you should take up golf !!!! ) .Shortly after John decided to move over to my right , and soon started catching codling one after another . Some of the days other Codling , some of the baits were bigger than the fish !!       Crazy how 30 yds differance made all the differance ,we both caught fish till high water ,when we called it a day . 18 codling and a rockling between us ,no in size fish ,best ones probably around 12oz`s ,a cracking afternoons fishing all the same .... __________________ Mike..
