| Good marks? Hi guys, I'm new to this forum but have been looking through some of the posts and am really impressed how friendly everyone is on here! I haven't been sea fishing for a while (plenty of coarse and fly fishing but no sea fishing), so have decided that I'm going to do a bit more this year. My question is.....if there was one place on the South Wales coast (Cardiff to the Gower) that you'd recommend casting a lead out to try and catch a few fish, where would it be? Not after anything big, just a few bites to warm my appetite for the sea again! I've got a day off work mid-February so am looking to get a day's fishing in then. Thanks in advance, Chris |

| Re: Good marks? If it's loads of tiddlers then the Cardiff barrage is the place. Car parking right next to it too. Nothing big mind just a rattle or two from small cod and whiting. Don't know how it's fished lately though. Welcome to the forum, there's quite a few from Cardiff/Penarth/South Wales on here so you should get some more info soon. Tight Lines. | Re: Good marks? Welcome Chris.. I arrived in S Wales a year ago, if you scroll back 7 pages in this section you will find the start of last years reports. I will agree with Mike - this time of year is a bit slow Good luck wherever you decide on. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |

| Re: Good marks? Hi everyone, Thanks for the advice from a few weeks back. I eventually ventured out west to a place called St Justinians (next to St Davids) and had 2 small codling and a shore caught ling (again small!). Was good to get back into the swing of things though. Am planning on getting out again over the next few weeks - see if I can get a doggie or two. Rays seem to be showing too so would be interesting to see if I can get one as I've never actually caught a ray before. Southerndown seems to be a favourite mark so may give there a go! |

| Re: Good marks? southerndown can be a good mark on witches point, you just need to be aware not to fish it on anything over a 12.4m cardiff scales tide (arrowsmiths book) and check the swell too as a swell will suck up the rocks and over the ledges. ogmore low tide is safe as houses as are the rocks there all along before you get to the deeps...again check swell. plenty of dogs coming out with the chances of small eyed rays too to sandeel baits. when your planning on going drop me or MRG2000 a pm and we'll tell you if we consider it alright to fish...or alternatively tag along with us. john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size |
