| "The Cable" Penarth ....Jan 16th. A tad late due to laptop meltdown !..... John and i decided to take advantage of favorable small tides to fish a mark ,known as "the cable". 20mph SW,going W winds forecast with showers later in the day,luckily the cliffs shelter you in W/SW winds ...we got down 4 hours before high to get a spot ,but loads already there for a local club comp ,so we had to fish the first hour closer to Lavernock ,in the wind !. The ground is quite rough ,but not bad enough for rotten bottoms ,99% of the time you can bully the leads out ....Johns waiting to spring into action   An hour or so later no bites ,but luckily a group moved of the mark we were hoping to fish ,so we high tailed it down there ..... much cleaner ground under foot , as we got there it tipped it down with rain !  ....First codling of the day soon followed   A couple more codling for me ,then a decent knock produced a better codling arount the 1 3/4 lb mark ,returned to fight another day   As darkness fell ,another decent codling ,followed by a 5 bearded rockling rounded off the day .   All in all a pretty wet windy and enjoyable day fishing ,thanks to John for taking the pic`s ,think hes was practicing his golf swing for most of the day as he didnt catch a fish all day . ....that`ll teach him for making rash statements !Quote:
