| Knew I could catch something After spotting the High around 8pm with a decent sized tide it was back to the beach last night. Wind was stonger than preferred and the showers were like stair rods when they hit. The car park was flooded, so the potholes (caving size), were harder to spot and careful manouvering was needed to deliver K to the seafront before parking on dry land. The wind wasn't too bad straight out of the car because I was sheltered by an 8 foot fence. We headed off down the beach armed with a 15ft beachcaster for me & a carp rod for K. Both had 2 hook rigs with lug and rag on either hook. The surf was rolling in from a long range which I was unable to clear with the carp rod. I said to K "shame it's not a couple of months later - looks great for Bass" As we were pushed rapidly up the beach by the surf, K without wellies kept us nimble. 30 yds before the steps I had the first bite and brought in a Bass. ![]() So i was only a couple of months out .As we moved onto the steps K's smaller rod started to show some interest, after struggling out of her colapsable chair in floaty, teddybear suit & numerous other layers of clothing, she caught a smaller scoolie, which once I stopped laughing was returned happily. Then another schoolie followed by a flounder. The lighter rod with smaller hooks was working better AGAIN! ![]() As High tide arrived with another heavy shower K had another schoolie and enough of getting rained on so we decided to leave. On retrieving my tackle I found this little fellow attached. A flounder for me as well. Result K. 3 Bass, 1 flounder (4 imaginary points) Me 1 Bass, 1 flounder (2 + 3 for biggest fish imaginary points) Honest.... I'm not competetive. Wish we gad caught them at the same time as they look different in the pictures... could K's be a dab? __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |
