| Beach of a morning Had 4 hours to kill in the middle of the ebb yesterday morning. Plenty of worm so went off to the beach. Nice & quite, not overly bothered by dogs/walkers. I don't usually fish this part of the tide, even when there are fish around in summer. Started off with a 3 hook flapper mixture of rag & lug. Changed rigs after 1 put in to a Dvice 2hook bomber to protect the worm whilst casting. Got some decent range which allowed me to move down the beach twice before I could see the leader in the minimal surf and winding in on the 3rd move. Didn't get any bites, which didn't suprise me. Did manage to eat all the choccy biscuits & drink the flask of coffee. Sorely tempted to give i a go this eve conditions & tides look good - shame it's Januaty though . __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |

I think the Dvice is an excelent bit of kit. I only use it on a snag free beach when I want a soft bait (worm) at range. I always add a little sand on top of the bait to ensure it doesn't come out in flight. If your sandeel is a bit manky & splitting when bait elasticing then they may also be useful. I tend to fish eel on a pulley pennel though. Not that I am prolific at catching big rays. I believe you can even pop a live sandeel in them if you want. PP - don't think they will manage a conger eel, but with sand added even if one end sticks out the top it shouldnt matter. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |
