2010 A cracking years fishing for team "Drunken Dragons"

Sat here watching the snow sitting still everywhere ,so thought i`d pinch Pingu`s idea and pop up a bit of a year summary .........

Looks like the years going to finish with the ground all white and slippy ,just as it started ,doesnt seem like nearly 12 months since John and i kicked off 2010 in the snow at Swanbridge, for a cracking day catching Cod fishfingers and whiting ............

Later in the month ,John hoodwinked me into fishing Knab rock,as it was "sheltered"....we had 25mph wind and heavy snow ,a cracking evening , afew codling ,whiting and a lone rockling made it a worthwhile trip... A trip out on the boat the next day ,was action packed with around 20 codling ,2 at a time on pennels !

Morfa beach ,near Port Talbot is a 2 mile walk from the car park, but well worth the effort ....Smalleyed rays ,turbot and flounders beached ...

Then it was time for a spot of Boat fishing , with a short notice wrecking trip off Milford Haven,John couldnt scam a day off unfortunatley...super day offshore ,a good variety of species caught.

WE met up the day after the wreck trip ,for a bash at the rays at Witches Point Southerndown,Paul (Spahill) met up with us and we trecked over the mountain to the ledges.Another worthwhile trek we all had , a good mix of rays ,and the odd doggie ....

A couple more trips to witches ,over the next few weeks produced a good few more fish ,including a very greedy Turbot for john ,who also tried to get beamed up by aliens !

Our next adventure was a Tope trip with Andrew on Whitewater ......only problem ,the tope wernt inshore ,so we went offshore wrecking for a few hours, till the weather chased us inshore for a few hours ,John sneeked out a stonkin Bull Huss

A quite few weeks followed ,John was off down the Gower in search of the Bass !!!!!!,and i`m sure he`ll add the details later on,

SEPTEMBER !!!!!.......SHARKING TIME !!!!

The annual Shark expedition ,and what a day it turned out to be ,true millpond conditions 30 miles offshore ,11 Blues boated ,a PB for me of 140LB,highlight of the year ...nxt years dates are already booked.

We`ve been in search of the elusive cod recently ,from both shore and boat with some sucess..........

]

I`m sure John will add more thoughts and pictures .Hopefully we`ll manage to squeeze in another trip to finish off the year ......Lets hope 2011 ,is equally if not more fun .......

Great catch through out the year guys with a few unusual fish for the south of England like Haddock.

I was even more surprised that no one picked up the fact the on that trip that you caught the Haddock and the Spur dog, both fish more typically associated with Scottish water's, the fish that you claimed was a Pollock is in fact a Coalfish. As soon as I seen the picture the straight lateral line jumped out at me. Not sure what wreck you were fishing, but it must have been a good one to produce all those northern fish.

Well done and if you are going again next year let me know if there is a space.

Portland Pirate.

The haddock ,were caught on a wreck 25 miles or so off Milford Haven ,Wales . I think we had around 20 off the back end of the wreck on baited feathers ,this pictures a bit clearer than the one i was holding .

The haddock are a regular catch on several wrecks ,out there .

The Spurdog was a suprise on the day off a wreck ,but took a large fresh fish bait rather than a lure .If memory serves me correctly we were fishing around 360 ft ,typical spur depth, having said that the Bristol channel Spurdog fishing in the early part of the year is brilliant with upto 100 a day in relativley shallow water .

I didnt name the pollock /coalie in the thread but you may well be right ...comparing John s pollack to the one i`m holding ,what do you think !...i can feel more species hunt points coming our way if your right PP

We will be off wrecking again this year , drop me a pm and i`ll let you know the dates if your interested ..
