Blue Shark Fishing aboard White Water...Milford Haven .

4 am start ,and a 2 hour drive to Milford Haven,not the normal start to the week !.But as usual it was well worth the effort .



Arrived at the quayside around 6 am ,found John (Lazyhooker) and his m8 John, lurking in the darkness,after a quick chat ,we made our way down the ramp to board Whitewater . Shes a 30ft Evolution ,purpose built for sharking ,with speed in mind ,as the shark grounds are 25 + miles offshore .

We set of in flat calm conditions ,and after a 45 min steam ,stopped at the Smalls Lighthouse to load up on mackerel for bait and the chum sacks,one of the boys managed to get mugged by 2 seals ,who took a fancy to his full string of juicy mackerel.I also managed to get jumped by a sheerwater who was pinching fish and managed to tangle himself in the feathers. Once the chum bin was full we settled down for long steam out to the shark grounds .

Rods set and the wait wasnt long within 15 mins the first ratchet staryted screaming,and after a short battle in came the first blue of the day ,a 50lber for John Boy.



Next run and its was my turn ,a long run intoi the deep,after 30 mins of gradually gaining ground only to looses all the gain and more ,the blue was visable under the surface ...it looked big ,a personal best for a cracking Blue 140 lb...



John (lazyhooker) was next into a shark ,another cracker nudging the 80lb mark



Steve on his first shark trip was next and after a good fight landed a cracking90lber .



Paul was last on the rod ,he had a scorching run,and after a good 45 minuite battle boated his first blue shark,a stonking 155 1/2 lb




We all had another shark each ,they were all in the 80-90 lb range with steve getting a third that took the bait as we were bringing in the rods ready to head for home ...




As always a cracking Day out with Andy on WhiteWater....11 fish boated with 5 dropped runs ..in between the Blues everyone was busy freelining for Garfish...

it was a superb day...i never would have believed that it would be that calm out there....30-40 miles out

and seeing the fish fighting below and around the boat was insane.



its amazing how quick 14 hours goes...wish i was still there.

what are you and andrew doing here.......looks like your discussing going for a pint over a shark!!!



must say Andrew the white water skipper is superb with the sharks, looking after their and our welfare

Fantastic lads - what a way to spend the day ( we need a smiley for champagne lol ) .. closest ive had is having a pollack bitten in half by a thresher - but those blues are absolute crackers !
