| West Pier.. Again Hi All, Got to the West Pier at 04:30 this morning armed with lug, mackie and squid. Made straight for the end, high tide at 06:30. it was fairly calm so I thought beach side first and see whats about. From the off it was rattle after rattle, pin whiting and a few small pout.  Eight or nine of these was enough, so one I'd hooked through the head went back in as bait river side. This was soon devoured by crabs. As it started to get light I thought I'd move toward the beach as there was a little surf breaking up against the Pier. Second cast on squid, had this little fellow.  Think it's a small eyed ray??? But open to offers? He was quickly put back! For the next few hours it was more of those whiting, then on the last cast I had this doggie, who put up a considerable fight! Thought it was something far more interesting!  Tight lines all Steve      |
