Aberavon - strange!!

Hi all - had some fun on the beach this week as K's shifts were complimented by a mainly rising tide.

Tuesday saw the carp gear out again to capture some flatties & bass (small) over the top of a morning tide.

Wednesday started the experimenting, with light winds & minimal surf I took an old feeder rod out with 8lb braid and a 1 oz bomb to fish the tide to top & just beyond. Bite detection was fantastic I could see the worms were agitated before the fish got to them. More small bass & flatties.
On the way down the beach I found this rig

Thursday saw 2 down 2 up to dusk.
I took the realy light gear again & regretted it once I hit the surf.
The 1 oz bomb wasn't holding so switched to a 2oz doughnut which was too heavy for the rod. I persevered & stood in the surf for the session.
I was joined by a young local lad, who had given me some useful info in the past. After a few casts with a plug I gave him a rig like mine & some worms.
Chris was first into a fish, a Golden Grey (his first ever) which didn't hang around for a photo by jumping back on it's way to the beach.

I snagged a micro bass before catching a Golden Grey myself (first ever).
Mine made it to the camera.



A few more micro bass came out then with the last cast Chris got another GG.
This one captured (badly) for posterity along with a sunset, which i am going to blame for the flash not working. Some jiggery pokery & magic with the PC managed to retrieve this.




Not bad week so far.

Nice going paul , lol ive never see a rig like that before , maybe its to be walloped out there by a golf club
