Jackstones 27/7/10

Had 3 hours on this well known mark.
1st time I have fished it, K & I walked along it a few months ago, but it was a bit too scary.
For those that have never seen it before I have taken a couple of pictures, it's name says it all & it's nothing to do with a previous owner.

Here is the view from the end towards my normal patch on beach

Here is the view back along the pier/breakwater. Car park just at the end.

Fished 3 hours down from the top of tide, soon after I took this I moved onto the stones as I snagged on them on retrieve.

Managed to catch 2 little Bernards, this one being slightly larger.
.

Then an hour digging bait before picking K up from work.

Back tommorow for another short session, assuming swell not to big & tide not to large.

Important... this venue goes under water on large tides and big swells can wash peeps off on normal tides.

Re: Jackstones 27/7/10

Yes - It's not part of the steelworks though.
The Long Arm & Short Arm create the steel works dock (both require a seperate permit to fish).
Jackstones (free to fish) provides shelter for the Afan river & is next to the Short Arm.
Appologies all - should have mentioned this in Port Talbot.

Re: Jackstones 27/7/10

I was just think they look like Jacks too!!! You'd need one hell of a ball though!

Well done mate, them bernards are weird looking fish... I've never had one so they're on the list!

Probably not as you can walk round it on spring tides.... also the long & short arm are within a couple of hundred yards & you definately get the snakes from them. Will be targeting them in the future .

Re: Jackstones 27/7/10

It does look a little on the "exposed" side , as you mention. Looks a cracking mark though.
