| late gower report managed to get down the gower last week...port eynon. i love this area of coast and to say its rougher than a badgers backside is an understatement. there would only be one target and that was bass. weapons for the week were bass rods, 4-5/0's and as bigger crab that you can get on it before dropping in the guillies i made a concious decision to fish some new areas so i had a couple of hikes to find ground like this    plenty of crab about...infact i found very few "normal" shore crab. they were all edibles or those nasty velvet swimmers...boy do they hang on when theyv'e got hold of you. Mind you didn't go over board on them...would get 15-20 good size (fist) in no more than 1/2 and hour and then it was off. fishing round here is a very mobile affair...you fish a spot for 20-40 minutes and get pushed off the mark by the big 12m tides...find another spot etc etc had over 20 bass between 1 1/2lb and 3 1/2-4lb so not bad but i can't help feel that i've got to re-evaluate my tactics to start getting the big boys.    john boy turned up for a day and got in on the action too..he also had a couple on plugs  had a surprise too...this red cod that must have been living in the kelp until i evicted him...gave him a bit of dentristry before returning him...pretty though.     and a couple of points too...in the form of this horrible little rascal!!!  all in all another fantastic week...touch wood i've spent a week at port eynon every year for the last 4 years and i've never had rain!!! seen it land 20 miles away but not here!!! john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size     |
