| Purple patch After K had caught up on Corrie (2 episodes ) we set off a little later than usual to the local beach for an anticipated dog fest. We were fishing 1.5 down instead of 2 & a couple back up into the night.I started with whole squid at range, whilst K was using mack chunks on a 2 hook flapper at about 80 yds. First put in and K is out with a doggie, I miss a bite. Next cast K has a quick rattle & a drop back, then she is asking if the clutch is too loose, (the thingy needs turning cos the spool turns when she pulls it in) I tighten it a little and the fish starts to come in. After a good battle she has a new pb Thornback at just over 6lbs, but this time we have a camera . ![]() I miss another bite & check my hooks, to be blunt... not very sharp , so switch rigs & persevere with the squid looking for the biggie. K meanwhile is pulling in dog after dog. I get another bite & get the first of my dogs. K fancies some variety & pulls in a whiting followed by some more dogs. I have a go with her rod & get a double shot of dogs. A swallowed hook by a doggie forces a cut off on my rod and I put on a very short 2 hook flapper. This results in a nice little Small Eyed ray. ![]() As I’m putting it back K winds in a double shot, a turbo & a doggie. ![]() The bites slow up as we hit 2 hours into the flood, so we call it a night & head off home exhausted & happy 5 species between us & a pb for K. Guess what we are doing tonight? ![]() __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |

| Re: Purple patch The following night. . . . . . . . . woof woof woof woof woof woof woof. Dogs every cast, often double shots. Had a little run on my baitrunner with whole squid & got a slightly larger dog. Oh well, beats catching nothing. Sea was flat calm with a stong breeze from behind. Guess a day of that has knocked the flavour out of the water. Even our little friendly foxes didn't pop down for a feed. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |
