Oxwich 3/6/10

Plan was to fish Chappel rocks for a few hours up and down from 21:00 to 03:00 then head to Aberavon for low water just after dawn.
Arrived at Oxwich just after 20:00 & quickly dug some lug to go with left over rag, frozen squid, mackeral & a solitary crab.
Some anglers already on the rocks & with K not being a rock bunny it was a toss up between the beach at Oxwich or push off round to Horton.
Decided on staying put & whacked out a whole squid as far as I could & fish flattie rig on the carp rod.

First retrieve K had a little flounder, so things looked good. As darkness fell properly, bites were still few and far between. Stuffed a squid with rag & lug & whacked out again. A good solid wrench and rattle on the carp rod gave K a doggie on high water, mine started rattling as I was rebaiting.

This little fellow came in (my target for the night).


Started chasing the tide down the beach & K connected with a couple of schoolies & a LARGE (4 inch) crabs leg which gave a decent bite. I had a little doggie that dropped of then beached himself.... silly fish.
Packed up around 02:30 & headed back to Aberavon.
Wind had really picked up on the exposed beach which would make the carp rod difficult to fish with so hopped back into the car & went home as dawn arrived.
Not a bad night - though had hoped for a few more fish.

Nice one Paul , good to see the hounds showing ,Chapel rock is tops ,and very close to the pub ,which is handy on a warm summers evening .
