| Don't know if I spelt it right but what a wonderful place. We went with the new lodge fishing club as this was our next chosen venue for the season. Me never having fished there went with trainers as I was told it was an estuary. Easy to find spot:- Go to Carmarthen and then head for Tenby. On the way to Sinclares turn off to pendine. This will take you into Laugharn. At the bottom of the hill there is a car park on the Left next to the castle. Park, unload and walk up the footpath around the Castle some couple of minutes towards Dylan Thomas's Boat house and there you are. We started fishing in the river watching the Mullet while sunbathing and wishing we had brought some floats so we could have a go at them. The rods went in at 10:30 with high tide due at 14:00. Ken my brow caught a small flounder within the first hour underneath Dylans boat house. The run was strong and we struggled to keep 6oz on the deck. We had nothing further for the next couple of hours and as the tide was rising with a threat of getting cut off we moved around to a more sandy part. On the way we were shown a Bass of 5.5Lbs and a 2.5Lb plaice. We set our lines out again on the shallower part of the estuary and Ken was immediately into a schooley. I followed with my first of the day followed by another in quick succession. All in all a good day with sunshine and fish. A real change for me. In Dylan Thomas Style. My Brother ken he caught a flounder, Underneath Dillans hefty tower. He turned to me and said "what do you think of that" I replied to small you jammy Sprat. (or words to that effect) He said to me "my claim to fame", Under Dillans boat house I caught my game, I'm a Fisherman there's no doubt of that, So Ill put this monster flounder back. I sat there and watched the seagull dive, as my brother released the fish alive. Then laughed as he watched in dismay, The seagull and flounder fly away. |
