| Aberavon Seems to be the only place I'm fishing at the moment - so I will just update this thread whenever I go there - unless anyone has any objections. 8/5/10 Saturday from 20:00 to 02:15 rhs of chippy. Conditions - NE gentle breeze, minimal surf. Bait - Mack/Squid/Sandeel Tide - high water 15:02 7.0m Dogfish from the off on long (dvice 3/0) & short (pulley 1/0) rod - slowed up dramatically 2 hours into flood. Stuck it out and caught some whiting (pin & small) on smaller baits. Exhausting walking back and forth to sea when dogs are in feeding frenzy. going to get a ray here eventually. ![]() __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |

| Re: Aberavon 12/5/10 Wednesday from 09:30 to 16:00 rhs of Naval club. Conditions - S gentle breeze shifting to W strong breeze , minimal surf, sunny spells with 1 light shower. Bait - Mack/Squid & crab wraps/3 lugworm Tide - high water 18:16 8.7m Seal in the water 100 yds to left & about 150 out. Fished from 2 before low during the day to avoid the doggies. 1 long with squid wraps (not a touch) 1 short scratching. First fish fell to K a few of hours into flood. A doggie. Switched long rod to a scratching rig as tide continued to flood. Had a little knock and this little schoolie came in on a worm on bottom hook. ![]() Gave it a bit longer & K had a smaller schoolie also on worm. Rain started to move towards us from Swansea so packed up. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |

| Re: Aberavon Good luck mate, there is a nice gully down there I intend to fish.... eventually. 30/6/10 fished 16:30 - 21:15 HW 21:47 8.7m, mainly bright sunshine small surf. Baits: maddies (most fish), lug, rag, party squid., Rigs: 2 up or 1 up 1 down size 2's down to 6's on the flattie rig. Second chuck K had a schoolie. slow from then untill sun dropped lower. K caught a palmsize flattie which got heavier as she foul hooked a schoolie. Took a 4/0 out of its gob - deep hooked & tried to put it back & get it to swim off before I saw it's eyes were glazed & rigor mortice had set it some time ago. As we neared top of beach flatties came on feed & I managed 1 on rag, K was haulingh them out. As i was up to me waist in water having just lobbed out my rod (hers goes first), K is already winding in a decent fish. A Lovely Golden Grey (knew we get something decent as had forgotten camera), new species for both of us, reminded me of a chub on steroids made from high tensile steel with at least 1 spike on it's back. A few more flatties for K- possibly dabs as didn't look like the flounders on previous trips. Then time to head home via the chippy, a treat for catching a new species & to stop her bragging about how many she caught. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> Last edited by Spahill; 07-01-2010 at 07:09 AM. | 2/7/10 fished 17:20 - 21:30 HW 22:55 8.2m, mainly bright sunshine good surf. Baits: maddies & Rag., Rigs: 1 up 1 down size 4's. Bites from the off with schoolies giving rattles at the furthest breaker. 3rd fish was a small flounder. more schoolies - pretty much 1 every 2 chucks on average. tried increasing the bait size to 2 or 3 rag but didn't entice anything larger. K hooked a sole of about 10 inches just before we left (bait running out & chippy calling). __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |
