| Aberavon 28/4 Forecast was for possible light rain, but warm so headed to local beach with K to fish over low for whatever came along. Turned out to be warm & no rain with almost unbroken sunshine. We tootled off down the beach K in full floaty & me with waders & floaty jacket. Had a quick chat with a local who was off to collect bait before fishing. He was dressed appropriately, sandals shorts & T shirt which disappeared later. God I hate weather forecasts. Anyway we fired out fishy baits, mack/sandeel/squid in combinations on I think they are called long & low rigs with a 4/0 & 2/0 as a pennel. K was first into the fish. ![]() 7 inch turbo, big gob round a bigish bait. Fished on for a few more hours without any joy on the large baits so dug the emergency scratching rigs out & K had another similar sized turbo. As the surf built up I put on a larger bait for a bass and was rewarded for all my hard work with B. all. Great day in the sun & hope the weather stays nice for more trips. Do I believe a weather forecast??? There are plenty of fish there - it's just deciding whether to stick it out for the bigger ones or have fun with the flatties...hmmmm Travelling light is the way forward as continually moving up or down the beach is mandatory. I want to collect my own bait & get fish for the table. Hopefully I will work it out soon __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |
