Fished over low with K last night.
Both using Dvices, K with size 4 wishbone, bling & old ragwom, myself with a 3/0 circle & sandeel.
First casts a doggie each, second casts missed bites, 3rd casts K had another doggie. Went quiet at bottom of tide & on the way back up.
Casted shorter on what proved to be last cast and still no bites.
On winding in for pack up K had a 3 bearded rockling & I had a whiting.
Fun night

I think they are great on CLEAN beaches.
Wouldn't want to lose too many - have only lost any through crackoffs so far.
I prefer the breakaway style compared to the 4 seperate legs which I find jam up with sand. I like them for ray fishing, though like yourself am not catching (m)any yet this year. You can create a decent hooklength & the bait should arrive in perfect condition even lightly hooked worms on size 4s (could you send a LIVE sandeel??). They take a whole squid - though the lumps of mack I used to use at Lilstock wouldn't fit. But then it's so rocky there I wouldn't use one anyway. I think I am casting around 20% further than with a pulley pennel which is probably good news when trying to fish at range (Charmouth?) . They are holding bottom well & are pretty much unbreakable.
In my humble opinion they get a thumbs up.
