| Re: sker point porthcawl help with tides Just thought Sker rock is a low tide venue as it is covered by high tide but it is fishable on high tide on very small tides under 10M on Cardiff scale, tides tend to run very hard about 2hours after high but slow considerably 2 hours before low. Cod may be a thing of the past but they need different baits to ray and conger, thats not saying you won't get one. It may be too late for ray but the odd thornie should still be about, they and conger prefer the fish based baits, conger and ray tend to be caught on worm based baits when a whiting has taken it first |

| Re: sker point porthcawl help with tides There wern't many crabs there when I was there last distances for casting don't need to be that far as you are fishing very deep water, please watch the tide in as it will cut you off from behind you will see that area as you go onto the rock. I have always seen the better fish comming off the Morfa side of the rock fishing out into the bay (straight out) Another place people fish is near where the rock is split (you will see that when you are on the rock) again fishing off the morfa side of the split. Incase you are unsure about morfa you will see the Port Talbot steel works, morfa is the beach running from the rock to the steel works. |
