| gower august weekend 21st Decided to go down the gower for the weekend camping on friday and as usual my helpfullness to pack the car masked my deviuosness of smuggling a rod in!!! thought i was out of my swede 30 minutes later while driving at 40 mph on the M4 with rain so bad you couldn't see a thing!!!thankfully that passed, sun came out and we didn't see any bad weather until this morning massive tides 13m!!!!!!! saw me spending a bit of time walking the gower saturday, making mental notes, taking some photos for when my mental notes fail and collecting a bit of crab. managed a short session and had a great bite 2nd cast which when i struck...struck back at me,,,reel good head nodder that took me on a merry old dance before throwing the hook 5 yards out...guestimate in the 6-7lb regions and really gutted as would have been my best of the season. decided to fish a couple of new spots then without much success untill i had a blank saving schoolie of about a 1 -1 1/2lb on a whole velvet on a 4/0....gready little sod....anyway with a bit of gentle handling hopefully will return to my rod in 4 or 5 years time at which time i'll introduce him to a frying pan a couple of pics of the ground which i think is one of the best stretches of coastline you can find in the uk. type of gullys to look for!!!  port eynon point  looking west towards overton mere  better shot of overton  you don't often see porteynon under this much water  blank saving schoolie  john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size     |
