| Gower bassing last week had the week off last week and decided to go down port eynon. Lovely first weekend but with no fishing until my wife and daughter went home on bank holiday monday, then it was bait collecting , fishing, shandy or 2 and bed...in no particular order. purposefully didn't fish any of spots i already knew apart from a lazy hightide mark... tackle and approach was the same all week...running ledger 2 1/2ft hooklength .a 4/0 with a good size bait...don'y worry about it being too big ![]() and just enough lead to hold in the gullies ![]() managed to fish most days until friday when the wife turned up again on friday in the evening, even wednesday when it seemed the four hoursemen of the apocolypse visited for the day.... managed 15 bass in the four days most around the 2-2 1/2lb with a fewbetter fish....best being 23 inches...if anyone has a bass society measure that converts it too a weight...my guesstimate is 3 1/2lb but i am known to get my guesstimates wrong!!!. all fish returned too...and a couple of pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() John __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size |

| Re: Gower bassing last week Sounds like my idea of heaven John... A whole week of Bass fishing. Bliss. How you getting on with the MTI? I took a good look at it in Veals recently, but thought I might be a little on the heavy side to hold for hours on end. Then again, I've been using a 30gr spinning rod a lot lately, so maybe anything is going to feel heavy.... ![]() Nice report and pics mate. ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. | Re: Gower bassing last week Nice fishing John, that mark looks really bassy. I've still never fished the Gower but have promised myself a session down there this summer so any tips would be gratefully received! |

its a slightly shorter rod than seems to be the trend at the moment which suits me fine for a lot of the marks where a longer rod is a hinderence...plus the shorter rod is easier to get balanced with the reel. I only put the rod in a stand when i'm faffing around generally its held all the time at most marks i fish and i've never had a problem with it getting heavy...may do if i had a really light rod like your 30g one.... great tip and bite detection and soft enough to absorb the tide surging up and down the gullies without dragging the gear into snags. i'm not a big caster but can put a bait 100yards with one of these if needed. john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size |

| Re: Gower bassing last week great report & fish mate, although not a sea angler, that's got to be my favorite beach on the planet, but then maybe i'm biased as my family is from the gower lol. plus despite a cousin running the fishery at gowerton golf course, i still haven tried that out either lol. __________________ www.mobilespanner1.co.uk |
