Thumbs down danger fishing ogmore deeps

i feel lucky to be back home in 1 piece today , tried fishing ogmore deeps on the ledges for about half an hour getting covered with spray , when a massive wave that i didnt see comming came over the top and knocked me off my feet and pinned me to the sharp rocks , felt like a tonne of water was on top of me ,i managed to get away with a gash in my hand , only glad i was ent doing anythin with the knife at the time
dont underestimate the pwer of the sea

A lesson for everyone there. Never under-estimate the power of the sea. Glad to hear you're OK though...

Re: danger fishing ogmore deeps

Bleedin' 'ell, you were lucky there, glad to hear you are ok. I know this was an accident and you've only got to watch a rough see hitting the cliffs down Cornwall to see just how powerful that initial wave can be. It's also quite an eye opener to see just how big a rock can be thrown with some considerable force onto sea defenses too. Even a flat sea can have rogue waves and I know even calm nights can have sudden unexpected wash from ships affect the scene. I think I'd still want to live next to the sea again though, this far inland is doing my head in.

Re: danger fishing ogmore deeps

You were very lucky

the deeps and witches point claim lives on a TOO regular basis.

rule of thumb is don't fish it on anything bigger than an 12m tide on the Cardiff scale...even less if there is a south westerly wind or and ground swell.
