| oxwich sunday night Decided to go down oxwich last night, partly due to the wind stopping us from getting to some of the marks we wanted. anyway it was still blowing a gale down there!!! but at leats we had a bit of shelter on chapel rock. At this mark you can use a bass rod for the hounds and boy are they fun on a 4oz rod and abu 6500!!! started very quiet and we were starting to think we had made a mistake. then around 8pm as the sun vanished the bites started.It continued and improved while it was getting dark with bites virtually every cast. best fish of the session was to my mate who had a good 6lb common smooth hound..best i could land was about 3lb. we were both snapped by fish screaming line of against the drag when we connected with them for a good 30 seconds.....and can't beleive how many we missed....was using 2/0s and couldn't connect and don't know if bigger hooks would have helped as the crab we had were quite small. i ended the night with 2 bass both keepers, a common smooth hound, doggies, flounder and a whiting. with more than a few lost at the waters edge as it was a bit dodgy with darkness,swells and an idiot with the net!! pictures to follow when my mate sends them to me. finished at about 11.30 when we ran out of bait. john __________________ Catch and Release fishing is a lot like a game of golf. | Re: oxwich sunday night a couple of pics now that my mate has overcome being maimed by technology!!! we guestimated between 5 and 6lb for this???about right???  my sorry looking effort in comparison but at least i have more pics of it as my mate was hopping around the rocks like a japanese tourist!! bit of dentistry first   and the last thing a crab sees!!!  john __________________ Catch and Release fishing is a lot like a game of golf.
