Re: Loughor Estuary

hey guys had a good session again today!!!!
starting fishing at 10am just as the tide was starting to push that far up the estuary. There was a lot of flood water still in the river and it was flat calm so i wasnt sure what it was gonna fish like! Luckily we had a frost this morning and that seemed to stop the crabs touching my baits! I caught 8 flounder today - all on lug & king rag cocktail or rag on its own. I returned everything apart from 1 fish which weighed in at 1lb 6oz so happy with that considering the early season i would have thought the fish would still be slim after spawning. This wasnt the case though - even though all the other fish were smaller they were short fat fish so hopefully the start of good things!!!
was very discouraged when i opened my lugworm which i had just bought in a tackle shop to find that they were all pretty much dead - mostly blown and stretched - will be having words regarding that!!!
But other than that was a brilliant day - crabs started attacking as the tide eased off near high tide and thats when i left!
rigs were boomed paternoster and bomber rigs with 3oz plain bombs.

Cool Re: Loughor Estuary

Well done JP nice to hear they are starting to show.
Did not try maddies then? Crabs are still a problem down on the Taw but they should thin out in a couple of weeks. I may leave it until well into November..... but you just can't tell at the moment.

Cheer
Shaun

Re: Loughor Estuary

the poxy shop didnt have any - they blamed the recent rain.
and most of the king rag were huge!!! but cant complain coz the end result worked out ok!
may squeeze another estuary session in before the tides start getting bigger - any idea what the weather is gonna be like on monday?

By the way, are whiting nice to eat?
