Fisher 1 is on a distinguished road
Re: Penarth 8th Jan 08

Andy as recomended by pirate make sure you have sufficient chain appx.16 ft should do and 3 times the depth on the rope as a general rule.
Ideally a fishermans pattern anchor is the better of the 2 anchors for our corally ground ( admiralty pattern if u can get one around 6-7kgs. ).
A bruce anchor though good does'nt bite into the corally bottoms so well, hence the dragging especially in choppy weather.
The bruce is excellent over mud, sand and mixed bottoms.
Only trouble with a fishermans is it's not so compact as a bruce when it comes to storing.

Hi Peter,
I guess your really looking forward to your new boat. I`ve still got a bit of a leak but I think I know where its coming from now. One of the windows is leaking which I can sort out with a bit of silicone and the bung is leaking. But unfortunately i`ll have to lift her out to do that one. No panic for now though. Went off the Rannie on Thursday. Blowing a gale S Westerly. Caught a codling about 2lb on my 1st cast and had a couple of small knocks on my other rod. Things were looking promising the fish were on the feed and no sign of sprats (no sign of a 15LBer either ya lucky git!!). Then the mother of all squalls came over and was threatening to flip the boat over sideways. I`ve never reeled three rods in so quickly in all my life. Got back in the marina and by the time i`d tied up, the wind had swung round to the west and the sun came out.......sods law. I try to avoid the weekends as I get time off midweek but my new boat is called KITTIWAKE. Hope to see you out there in your new ARVOR mate. Always looked on in awe of those boats.

Andy K

Sean.
Thanks Sean. I`ve since added a few more metres of chain and it seems to be holding better.

Trouble is now its only stuff that i`ve managed to cobble together and its held together with a series of `D` shackles. It seems to work, except it gets stuck on my Alderney Ring when `up-anchoring`.

I could probably have let out more warp too. I`ll do that in future.

Thanks for the advice

Andy.
