Penarth tomorrow

Chaps,

Heading out in the boat tomorrow for the ebb tide off Penarth - anyone know if and where it might be producing a few codling ? Were thinking of the usual off the North Buoy and in towards the forshore ?

Cheers

Re: Penarth tomorrow

Total waste of a good day ! Got there in the ice - tied the dog on board, put the kettle on and rigged up. Out through the locks at 10ish and off we went - only the boat would only do 7 knots and the emergency lights were on for a VW specialist to look at the engine !

Just what we had all summer and having been promised it had been dealt with during the service only 3 weeks ago you can imagine the language that echoed round the channel.

Mightily dissappointed me and the old man trundled back in half an hour after leaving - safety the main concern, not knowing if the engine would stop or start should we anchor anywhere. Back in through the locks whilst others were off out to chase them there cod

Still made it back to the pontoon and cooked some great sausage and egg sandwiches and refelected on what its like owning a boat and how frustrating it can be when this should have been dealt with recently. Now being ' Dealt ' with again next week so might make it out over the holiday !

Cheers

Fisher 1 is on a distinguished road
Re: Penarth tomorrow

Unlucky Thommy must be veryfrustrating to put it mildly.
If it's any consolation the fishing is really pants at the moment, with not a lot being caught cod wise, and mostly small stuff when you do get a few.
Fished today at the deeps and mid grounds an only managed 2 cod to about 1.75 lb and a strap conger, all returned.
Things can surely only improve from here though.
