Cardiff 6th Oct

Hi
Fished mid channel and then Mid Cardiff buoy on todays rising neap tide. It was slow. We caught a few congers, rays and doggies. I put it down to the farmed rag I was using - I think what fish we caught were going for the squid tips.

Other people that I met in the lock in had had a few cod with one boat getting seven from the Goldcliff area on rag. Thats a bit far for me to go.

Good to be out though.

hi mate,
we fished the same area yesterday with pretty much the same result, best fish of the day 10lb thornback ray. baits frozen blacks squid makkie.
beats sitting in the house every time though.

MIB bac also fished the same marks yesterday with Kobe and Benjoma.
Fishing was very slow
I fished on the Benjoma and we tried barry first for the blonde rays but they didn't want to come out to play all we had was one thornie and two strap conger with a couple of dogs.

so we ventured back upto cardiff much the same story except peter lewis had a bullhuss 12lb2oz and ant williams had a codling nudging 5lb.

one other codling caught around 2lb with thornies and straps the main stay

Hey,
I saw you out there fishing towards Lavernock - have seen you in that area a few times. Haven't tried it myself - do you generally do well?

We were fishing next to Kobe for a few hours that day. They seemed to be doing better than us then they moved inshore and we went the N Cardiff. Seems like it was generally slow all round (which makes me feel a better). Well, try again next weekend!

Could well be - I fished the same neap a couple of weeks ago with similar results. A bit of flow to get them feeding must help.

its always been our fallback mark, if we are having poor day we always end up there. fished there yesterday 13/10/07 had the usual doggies,conger and then i had a codling about 2lb and my first ever bullhuss, my mate neil finished off with a cod 7 1/2 lb, always catch at that mark.

give us a call on the radio next time boat name gust 2

Hi Plugger,
I saw you coming in on Sat at about 1700 - I was the Shetland (called Trombone) with 4 people on board heading out who gave you a big wave. I was taking some friends for a spin around Flatholm.
Will give you a shout on 16 next time I see you.
