Frairs point 5th October

had the day off yesterday and decided to get out and about.

with small tides i decided to go to friars point in barry.

got there and things were looking excellent for a day out but knew i would be struggling with the fishing. Light winds for the last couple of days had allowed the water to clear to a faint murkiness instead of its normal tar like complexion.

Found a nice rock ledge and set up base camp, baits used were sandeel, squid and rag blasted as far as possible looking for some good congers or rays.
On the flood the bites were slow which didn't develope into anything.
As the high tide came and went things were not looking good until a tell tale rattle signified the first visitor..a whiting around 10" duly returned with instructions to send something bigger in my direction.

then i thought i was in a typical ray bite, struck and felt some resistance, a small thornback about 1 1/2lb was soon on the shore, lovely little fish quickly returned and swam off non the worse for wear.

that was it for a lovely afternoon and soon packed up to go and get some aftersun as my head was resembling an englands glory match!!!
