| tuesday august 28th This has to be my best days fishing ever. It started on Monday when I went to dig some ragworm. I managed to dig about half a pound of nice big rag. Then on tuesday I took the 11.30 lock out of Penarth faced by quite a strong NE wind. Headed off to beyond the North Cardiff buoy and dropped anchor there for a couple of hours. Caught half a dozen thornies up to 7lb  Then the tide went slack and the congers came out to play. Caught 2 at 10lb and 12lb but didnt take any photo`s. Then I thought i`d go and use up my ragworm back at the Rannie to see if any Bass were around. The wind had now dropped and it was flat calm. I had always fancied this spot at the Rannie and I figured it could be a ratrun for feeding fish, but it couldnt be fished from the shore on the flood as the ledge is about 5 ft deep and retrieving tackle would be a nightmare. Then there was the problem of anchoring and being able to find the ledge when it was covered. So I gently steered the boat into 5 ft of water praying a rock wasnt going to bite my prop. Dropped anchor and waited till the ledge was covered. Baited up with ragworm and waited. First cast was this one about 2.4lb.  . Had I known what was to follow, that would have gone back. For the next hour and until my ragworm ran out, I had a Bass per cast. I even missed another because I was de-hooking one and got my hooks caught up in the net. These beauties weighed in at 2lb.4oz, 3lb.8oz, 3lb.12oz, 4lb.12oz and 5lb.  .Locked back in at 6.45 with a great tan too. __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right.     |
