Penarth 10th June.

Decided at the last minute to have a session out today. As I had some squid in the freezer, it was just a case of getting up early and catching the 7 o`clock lock. There was a charter boat in the lock and I made my mind up to follow him down to aberthaw (he must know what he`s doing) as there was no wind at all. However, got out through the lock and an Orkney turned left and headed for the deeps so I followed him instead. Unfortunately he stopped at the North Cardiff. I wont go to those places unless I know someones going there to show me the ropes. I`m still a bit wet behind the ears when it cmes to boating.

Anyway, I decided to hunt for some bass around the foreshore....nothing, then the Rannie because I knew penarth sea anglers were picking up a few......nothing. So headed off to the mid cardiff and dropped anchor there,and what a day from then on. Loads of obligatory doggies and strap conger, 4 x thornies about 6lb each and a bullhuss about 6lb. Hell of a tan too. Great day out and sounds like I did a lot better than most who stayed around penarth. Radio messages were the odd conger and the odd doggie.
