Poole species comp 08/06/07 Hi all nicely refreshed, well here goes we travelled down on my birthday after two accidents on the M4 either end of newport we managed to get going,we hit the A350 junc 17 then we hit 4 arttics tailing one and other and for those that know this road can turn it into a long journey.31/2 hours later we finally drove into Poole yippy. we went fishing by the front to catch wrasse ballen and corkwing, blenny and I had a bass which seemed to be a good omen the only thing was I had left my two rig wallets with all my traces home. after a light session in the pub and a trip to the scoff shop down to bed for an early start and this is where things started to go wrong. breakfast was good but the tackle shop was late in opening which mean't we missed the live sandeel on the quayside.by the time we sorted the bait out for the two teams made us late to get to the signing in point which mean't i lost my parking place in the nearby carpark. I had to rush back after dropping off the lads to park inh the b&b and run back. when I got onto the the boat we set sail only to find the guys had left the frozen bait in the car. with no sandeel or cuttlefish or frozen blacks its was going to be difficult and this it proved to be.we however had plenty of ragworm in the form of dale rag, maddies and poole local dug rag, mackerel &squid. we ended up with 17 points and the b team 18 points with all their bait but no where near the 33 plus points needed to win. there was a nice undulate ray caught of 14lb4oz but a very nice 5lb 6oz bream was taking the specimen prize until someone caught a new british record cleaner fish was landed. the boat we fished on was the silver spray a cat and what a piece of machinery.we still enjoyed ourselves tho. charlie..... and plenty of this __________________ MIB Boat Angling Club

Sounds like a great day out Charlie. Cleaner fish is a new one on me! Anyone got any pics? The most unusual fish that I have seen caught was a Red Band fish from Portland harbour. __________________ One man's fish is another man's poissons http://www.deepsea.co.uk http://www.wildtrout.org

Re: Poole species comp 08/06/07 Unlucky Charlie, Sound like the mother of all days. But hey, nothing like an eventful day to work up a thirst. Whats this cleaner fish, a hoover or a Dyson lol? and what did you catch it on dog hair or cat fur? Never heard of one before. __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right.
