penarth 29th may

Decided to take advantage of a lul in the windy weather. Took a day off work, and went to get some worm to go with the squid in the freezer. Hitched the boat to the car and an almighty gust of wind told me..."this just isnt going to be my day". The forecast said 7mph westerly turning to strong southerly by late evening. Locked out at 11.30 into what must have been 20mph southerly. I battered my way out to the mid cardiff and without even dropping anchor, made my way back to the relative shelter of the rannie. Fished for a couple of hours hauling in dogfish and strap conger then went in really close over the ledges looking for some lurking bass. More strap conger and sadly nothing else. Then fed up with bobbing around like a cork, I didnt even wait for high tide and got the 4.45 lock back in. As soon as I got the boat back on the trailer, the wind dropped. I drove back along the prom and the sea was as flat as..........Someone has got it in for me. Its been 6 weekends since I went out last (because of the wind)...Sods law.

Re: penarth 29th may

It seems like its only the periods of settled weather that the weather people get right and even I can do that. But like you all said i`m lucky to have got out. Should be out again on Monday ......weather permitting.
