mumbles report

had the day off today and after looking on met check last night i decided that i'd give mumbles pier a go as they were forecasting 16-20MPH south Westerly which should be fine as the pier is sheltered from Sw Winds

got there about 10 am the wind was howling..... easily 40-45mph at the least....decided after i'd driven 40 miles and bought bait that i'd stick it out for an hour.
made my way to the end of the pier which is a concrete stage lower than the rest of the structure an slightly sheltered from the wind.

cast out and that was the start of a great day, the wind did make bite detection hard but finished at 3.30 after catching
9 doggies up to 1 1/2lb
7 whiting up to a lb
5 dabs

just goes to show that we should make the most of things...i certainly would have missed out if i hadn't thought bugger it...

john
ps in future i think i'm going to give up with BBC weather, met check and the met office site and resort to nailing seaweed to my shed....unfortunatley the wind which wasn't forecast has blown the bugger away...

Re: mumbles report

Well done John, great report and a good bag of fish mate.

I'm starting to think that obscene weather is actually the best time to go out. Not only do you get the whole beach to yourself, but it would appear that you can get some good fish as well....

Let's see what the weathers like on Wednesday for our match then.... (Cue one blank!)
