Thumbs up Montauk, NY Cod Fishing Reports 3/29/05

Local Cod Sat March 26- Captain Steven- First thing in the morning the boat headed offshore for some keepers from South of Block Island to Cox's Ledge and worked it's way back to Block Island Grounds. Settled in for the afternoon on excellent action, unfortunately there were tons and tons of shorts with a handful of keepers mixed in. Captain Steven thinks that the fish are spawning and also the effects of the full moon were felt. First place was taken by Robert Epps of S. Ozone Park with a 6.5lbs cod. Second place went to Emile Kennedy of East Moriches and a 5.3 pounder. Hopefully, after this easterly blow on Mon and Tue fishing will get back to normal!

Local Cod Friday March 25 - Captain Steven reports a really tough day, the sloppy water and the full moon really slowed down the action - the cod were thick but not hungry. First place pool went to Vinnie Nappo of Deer Park with a 10 pounder and second prize pool was taken by Billy Taylor the Third of Amityville with a 9 pounder. Hopefully Saturday will the will have their appetites back
