Chalk Springs 31/7/11 Phewwwwwwww,a scorcher. Not the best conditions to go trouting in. Club day,20 fished. Generally very hard,i did manage four, three on egg fly and one on damsel.Plenty of looks and some missed takes on egg's but fish very very spooky.Mate had four but majority had one or two, some blanked, infact a few without even a look. Some big fish spotted in all pools but just not interested.Pretty well all the fish taken were around the two pound mark.

Re: Chalk Springs 31/7/11 Great result Chalk Springs can be hard in ideal conditions, catching four in this weather is beyond difficult ![]()

Re: Chalk Springs 31/7/11 Not the ideal sort of weather, infact had it not been a club day i don't think i would have bothered.Chalk Springs remains cool due to the constant running water into the lakes. The bigger fish and indeed most of the smaller fish really were not that intersted at all.Initial interest in a fly was then met with distain. Its really interesting to watch them in crystal clear water. Some of them actually mouthed the flies without even a twitch on the line, now in coloured water how many times does this occur i wonder!.Egg flies left to drop slowly through the water were quite often mouthed, sucked in and rejected like lightening and not a twitch to be felt.
