| Powdermill Mayflies We all met up in the Little Chef on the A21 and then drove onto a decent cafe for breakfast ![]() Had a very good day, weather was windy but dry, as soon as we got into the boats there were Mayflies coming off and the odd fish rising so tried the nymph on the point and the irish wet pattern on the dropper was getting interest but no takes so swapped the nymph for a foam emerger and was still getting interest but no takes so as the 2 "novices" that were out with us in the other boat had a couple of fish on Montanas we decided to have a move to the top end of the long arm. When we got there the fish were showing but once we anchored they went down so we put the Drogue out and drifted back down towards the Dam, When we drifted close the bank there were some small splashy rises close to the bank so I put a Grey Wulff over them and had 2 small Browns which I think are natural as they do not stock browns(Ithink). After lunch we had 3 Rainbows each all on Wulffs (various colours) and had a lot on rises and follows , if all the rises had been hooked we would of had our limits by 2.00 as it was we fished till about 6.30. A very enjoyable day, will post photos tomorrow when they are sent to me. |
