Chalk Springs today

Had a hot but enjoyable day at Chalk Springs, I didn't think Trout would rise in hot clear weather but managed to catch my limit on Dries 1 on a Sangster and 3 on a Hawthorn fly.

Because the hot weather plays havoc with my Asthma I fished on the first pool and having tried the stalking bugs without sucess I switch to the dries as there were a lot of Trout in the inflow at the top of the lake , had a small Rainbow on the Sangster and then change to the Hawthorn as there were a few naturals about and had this on it on the second cast:





It went 4lb 11oz and is a PB for Brown Trout.

Playing the Brown disturbed the swim so gave it a rest for 30 minutes and and then had another Rainbow. Decided to have a rest in the hut and a bit of lunch and then had a stroll round the other pools , saw a couple of massive Browns at the end of the west pool but they would not look at anything and were to deep for the dry fly, came back to the first pool and had my last fish on the first cast so gave my rod to one of the party that were down from the other forum and he had 2 rainbows with it.

Much else taken?.That first pool down can quite often be a tad cloudy compared to the remainder,but it does hold a few decent fish as a rule.Many Browns showing?
